How beautiful are the feet of those who proclaim God’s salvation story.
As we continue through the season of Advent, today’s devotion is based on Isaiah 52:7, where we hear the prophet tell God’s chosen people, “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, ‘Your God reigns.’”
When that passage is read, we generally think it speaks of pastors. But I would put forth that early on, it was talking about the coming Messiah, Jesus. It is now talking about all Christians who tell others about Jesus and his salvation story. Small crucial moments are constantly occurring around us, giving us opportunities to share the love, peace, and joy of Jesus with those who feel unloved, lack peace and joy.
Please pray with me; Lord, you know how hesitant I can be to share the good news of your salvation with others. I know how lovely your feet are for proclaiming the love, peace, and joy that I needed to hear. Help me grow in my faith that I, too, might proclaim your love, peace, and joy to those who do not know you. In Jesus’ holy name, I pray. Amen.
