Today's devotion is based on John 9:1, 5-7, "As He (Jesus) passed by, He saw a man blind from birth. ... (He said) "As long as I am in the world, I am the Light of the world." Having said these things, He spit on the ground and made mud with the saliva. Then He anointed the man's eyes with the mud, and said to him, "Go, wash in the pool of Siloam" (which means sent). So he went and washed and came back seeing."
What a blessing it must have been for that man to have the Creator of the universe step in and personally fix his blindness! What I find interesting is that Jesus used mud (dirt) to heal just as he used dirt to create humans. And yet, Jesus did more for this man and us, than just fixing his physical vision. He opens spiritual sight. So while your eyesight like mine might not be as sharp as you would like, as a believer, your spiritual sight is 20/20. You now know that because of His death and resurrection, you have total renewal, both body and soul, when Jesus comes again, according to His promise. Please pray with me the prayer for today: Father, help me to recognize and trust my Savior throughout my life. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
