Today's devotion is based on 2 Corinthians 5:17-18, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to Himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation." God wants to make you a new person. He wants you as you are. He doesn't want you as the best-dressed and most-qualified person you think you are. God wants you with your sinful nature and all the negative consequences it has produced in your life. He wants to clothe you with His gracious mercy, forgiveness, and love through Jesus Christ. Through Jesus, God has made new life possible for each one of us. The Father invites you into this redeemed new life, and by His Holy Spirit will keep and sustain you in faith unto life everlasting—when, one day, all believers will gather with Him forever. Please join me in praying the prayer for today: Heavenly Father, creator, and sustainer of all things, seen and unseen, thank you for accepting me as I am with all of my faults. Thank you for making me into a new person, clothed with Jesus' righteousness. Help me to stay in the faith so that when my time on this earth is up, I will be accepted into your presence. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
