Today’s devotion is based on Matthew 10:7-8, where we hear Jesus telling the disciples, “Proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay.” What have you received without pay? Here are some things you have received from God: 1. Forgiveness—all your guilt is taken away, removed forever. 2. Covering for shame—you are clothed in Christ, all your nakedness hidden. 3.Strength for today, whether it’s an ordinary, humdrum day or a time of crisis. 4. A solid foundation under your feet in times of doubt and fear. 5. Knowledge that God’s arm is there, holding you up, even in the most terrible storms. 6. Love, while I have listed it last, is certainly not least. God's love does not depend on your lovability but on the never-changing character of God Himself. This is what God has given to you without pay. Pass it along to others without pay as God has given it to you! Please pray with me the prayer for today. Lord, help me to see the worth of what You have given me, so that will give of myself willingly for the people around me, the people You love. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
