Today's devotion is based on Mark 9:17,18, "For nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor is anything secret that will not be known and come to light. Take care then how you hear, for to the one who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he thinks that he has will be taken away." These are the words Jesus spoke after telling the parable of the sower. Jesus sows his Word among us. We all hear it, but just as in the parable, the results are very different. Therefore, we too, should think about how we hear the Word of God. As Jesus showed in the parable, it is possible to hear the Word, see Jesus' deeds, and still react improperly. Don't be one of those who discard or think lightly of God's Word, for he longs for you to be a child of his. Please pray with me the prayer for today: Lord, you know how many times I have been afraid to talk with you about what I have done and thought. Please help me always to remember that not only do you know me better than I know myself but that you long for me to share my deepest feelings with you. In Jesus' name. Amen.
