Today’s devotion is based on Ephesians 5:1,2: “Therefore, be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”
Loving someone and giving of oneself to that someone is a mark of genuine love. We cannot claim to love someone and remain passive. To love someone necessitates giving part of ourselves to the beloved; otherwise, our giving is just a set of actions, fulfillment of a duty, or completion of an event.
Our Lord Jesus’ love for us involves him giving himself totally to us, even to the point of death. His self-giving love should produce a life of forgiveness, joy, and hope in us. Let us love by giving of our ‘self’ just as Jesus did. And just as Jesus did, make a difference in our relationships.
Please pray with me: Heavenly Father, thank you for loving us so much that you sacrificed your beloved Son so that we can be declared innocent on Judgment Day. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
