Today’s devotion is based on Ephesians 4: 30-32—“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage, and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” What struck me today in this passage is that I am grieving the Holy Spirit when I am holding onto any bitterness. Today, I want to encourage you to give up any “root of bitterness” you might have and replace it with a sweet spirit of contentment and joy. If you are harboring any bitterness in your heart, release the reason for the bitterness to God and be set free to be the child of God, God wants you to be. Please pray with me the prayer for today: Heavenly Father, creator, and sustainer of all things, seen and unseen; you know how easy it is to be bitter towards someone. Remind me, Lord, of your forgiveness. I did not deserve it, yet you forgave me and accepted me into your family. For that, I give you praise and glory. In Jesus’ holy name, I pray. Amen.
