Today’s devotion is based on Matthew 11:29, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” In Jesus’ time, much of the farming fell upon the sturdy shoulders of the oxen. When a young ox was being trained, it was yoked to an older experienced ox. The older oxen bore the burden while the younger followed. Jesus wants to share your load. He wants to ease your burden, whatever it might be in the current climate. After all, he took upon himself, not only your sin but the sin of the entire world. Please pray with me the prayer for today: Heavenly Father, creator, and sustainer of all things, seen and unseen, thank you for sending your son Jesus who is willing to take on my burdens. Please help me in my weakness to become yoked to him, so that I can find rest in the troubles of my life. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen
