Today’s devotion is based on 1 Corinthians 6:20. “You were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”
Jesus’ death paid for your free gift of salvation. Think about that. God loved you so much that he came to earth as a mortal human being so that in his death, you would be set free of eternal death. You received that gift when you first believed in Jesus as your Savior.
In your baptism, you became a member of the body of Christ. You should now live to God’s glory and not your own. Too many times, we don’t value the gift because it is free. We live our lives according to society’s standards and not God’s standards. Living to God’s standards does not come easily because of our natural sinfulness and weaknesses. We need to make a conscious effort to live godly lives. The more you trust in God and his goodness toward you, the more you will live a godly life. It will not be easy, but you can do it because you are not alone. Jesus is in you.
Please pray with me the prayer for today: Heavenly Father, creator, and sustainer of all things, seen and unseen, teach me through your Word to trust in you more. Help me to see how rich and safe and well cared for I am as long as I remain in you and you in me. In Jesus’ blessed name, I pray. Amen.
