Today's devotion is based on Proverbs 16:8, "Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues with injustice." Proverbs is a fascinating book, and I would suggest that if you have a question about what to do in particular situations, this is the book for you. Proverbs, you will see, gives good practical advice, as it should, for it is God's advice. The verse for today warns us that we need to examine how we make our money and get our stuff. We must rethink things if we make gains by disadvantaging others or taking advantage of their misfortune. Justice is not just something we expect the government and the courts to look after, for we, as God's people, are to act justly. It is better to have a little stuff and to show kindness and generosity than to have lots of stuff and get it by taking advantage of people. Please pray with me: Lord of all Creation, you have richly blessed me. Thank you for all that you have given me. Please help me be generous with what you have given me and act justly to everyone I encounter. In Jesus' blessed name, I pray. Amen.
