Today’s devotion is based on Galatians 1:10, which reads, "Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ."
The author of Galatians, Paul, was writing to the churches in Galatia to address the issue of false teachers who were trying to convince the Galatians that they needed to follow Jewish customs in order to be saved. Paul was reminding the Galatians that they should not be concerned with pleasing people, but rather with pleasing God.
As Christians, we are called to be witnesses for Christ in all aspects of our lives. This can be challenging, especially when we are faced with opposition or ridicule. However, we must remember that our goal is to serve God, not to please people. We should always strive to live according to God’s word, even when it is difficult.
Let us pray: Dear God, we ask that you give us the strength and courage to be witnesses for you in all aspects of our lives. Help us to remember that our goal is to serve you, not to please people. We pray that you will guide us and give us wisdom as we seek to live according to your word. Amen
