Today’s devotion is based on Luke 7:50, where we hear Jesus say to the woman that had just anointed his feet with oil, “Your faith has saved you.” We hear those words from Jesus over and over again in the Gospels. Jesus intentionally repeated them to stress something significant. What Jesus gives is received in faith. When you believe in him, you receive what he has given you without reservation. Believing isn’t just accepting what he has said. It also means to believe that Jesus is God’s Son and that he comes to you from God bringing salvation. It means that you trust in him, have confidence in him, and glorify him. It means to obey him, something that we quite often fall short of doing. The most wonderful thing concerning faith is that you know that you are at peace with God, which gives you peace in your life that enables you to get through all the rough patches that life throws your way. Thanks be to God for all of his mercies and blessings. Please pray with me the prayer for today: Heavenly Father, creator, and sustainer of all things, seen and unseen; you know how much I doubt. My faith is so many times is like smoldering coal. It is only kept going by the blowing of the Holy Spirit, which keeps it alive and glowing. Thank you for doing that because, without the Holy Spirit, I would lose my faith. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
