Fear no evil

Today's devotion is based on 1 Peter 2:25, "For you were like sheep going astray," but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls."
If you have read the New Testament, you know that Saint Peter knew a thing or two about acting stupid in front of Jesus. But Peter also knew something about repenting and returning to Jesus. He calls Jesus the Shepherd and Overseer of his soul and not just his soul but mine too.
When I realize that Jesus forgives me, his being with me comforts me. I will fear no evil because he is with me. No accusation of conscience or the devil is stronger than his presence. I want him around when my guilty thoughts make me feel panicky and alone. For He alone can comfort me and give me peace.
