Today’s devotion is based today on 2 Corinthians 12: 9—“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
I don’t know about you, but I struggle with “being over-weight. As I thought about it, most of the time when I am overeating my favorite foods, of which there are many, I find that I am overeating what is called “comfort foods” because at that time I need to be comforted.
If you are struggling in this area, please join me in giving up overeating “comfort food” during Lent. Instead of reaching for “comfort food,” ask God to fill you with His love, peace, and joy. God—The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—created us and redeemed us. There is nothing too big for Him to manage. We are special and beloved by God. We don’t want ever to lose sight of this fact!
Please pray with me the prayer for today: Heavenly Father, creator, and sustainer of all things, seen and unseen; forgive me for those times when I try to find comfort in something other than you. Please help me in my struggles controlling overeating to remember that true comfort can only be found in you. In Jesus’ holy name, I pray. Amen.
