Following the example of Jesus

This morning’s Bible study verses are from Romans 15:5-7. “And may God, the source of patience and encouragement, enable you to have the same point of view among yourselves by following the example of Christ Jesus so that all of you together may praise with one voice the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Accept one another, then, for the glory of God, as Christ has accepted you."

Too often, we criticize people instead of encouraging them. We need to follow Jesus' example and accept people where they are. He sat with sinners and ate with them. He showed love and acceptance to people who in his day were classed as outcasts. He was patient with them. He encouraged them. Those who were treated in this way became changed people.

Please pray with me the prayer for today. Jesus, you know how quick I am to criticize others. Help me to follow your example and to love and encourage others, so they can blossom into the people God wants them to be. Amen.
