Today’s devotion is based on Ephesians 3:12-15, “In him and through faith in him, we may approach God with freedom and confidence. I ask you, therefore, not to be discouraged because of my sufferings for you, which are your glory. For this reason, I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name.” Quite often, those without faith imagine that God is a heavenly enlargement of the things we value and fear hear on earth. The exact opposite is true. The whole earth is a reflection of God, for everything belongs to God. The same is true of the Christian Church. While it looks to us like the Church is made up by our choosing to associate with others, it is work of God choosing to bring people together into his Church. Please pray with me the prayer for today. Heavenly Father, creator, and sustainer of all things, you can do so much more than we can pray for or imagine, help me to recognize that your ways are not my ways so that I will stay strong in faith. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
