Today’s devotion is based on Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Yesterday, we saw in Psalm 46:2,3 that God is our refuge. Today, we look at God being our strength. As you know, physical activity requires the strength to complete the task. Emotional energy also requires strength, and entertaining anxious thoughts will rob us of strength. What is happening in our thoughts can impact our whole person: our focus, feelings, attitudes, and actions. It’s good for us to recognize our emotional weakness, for by doing so, we can then get help. And that help can come from Jesus, for he said, “Come to me all you who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Take Jesus up on his invitation for in him you will find the strength to get through what is troubling and wearying you. In him, you will find the strength to get through the troubles of life. Please pray with me the prayer for today: Jesus, thank you for your invitation to bring my troubles to you. Help me to rely on your promise to give me rest, so that I can get through the difficulties of today. In Jesus’ blessed name, I pray. Amen.
