Today’s devotion is based on a text by Isaiah 52:7. “How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, ‘Your God reigns!.” The people of Israel had been anxiously waiting for the result of a battle. Since this was before modern-day communications, they were waiting for the messenger who would arrive on foot. He finally arrives with the good news that ‘your God reigns’! Imagine the joy they felt. Let’s continue to not only to be anxiously waiting for the good news but also to be the bearers of the good news that will comfort and encourage others with the hope and the faith we have in God’s salvation. Please pray with me the prayer for today: Heavenly Father, creator, and sustainer of all things, seen and unseen, we remember and acknowledge that you reign over the whole world. Hold us close as we wait for some good news. Remind us that your love and your salvation are the greatest treasures we could ever hope for. Use us to comfort those who feel ruined at the moment. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
