11-22-22
Today’s devotion is based on Romans 2:11,12, “For God shows no partiality. For all who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law.” We all have our favorites, whether we admit it or not. Then there are the people in our lives who are not our favorites. People we struggle to spend time with, people we don’t relate to very well, and people who seem to rub us the wrong way. These are the people that we often judge so quickly. What fantastic comfort it is that God does not show any favoritism. Although, to be strictly honest, there are times when I struggle with that. Why don’t bad people always get what they deserve? Why do good people suffer? Why does life often seem so unfair? So, there I am, making judgments again and showing favoritism – precisely what this passage warns us about doing. Think about that for a minute. Don’t think about all those other people. Think about what it means that the God of the universe favors all people, even those you might think don’t deserve his favors. Please pray with me, Loving God; thank you that you show such incredible favor toward me. Please help me to see other people around me as your favorites also. Forgive me when I have been quick to judge. In Jesus’ blessed name, I pray. Amen.
