2-3-21 Today's devotion is based on Isaiah 30:18, "Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion." It's just too easy to worry about things. How many sleepless nights have you had when you can't imagine a solution to your dilemma? You and your family pay a high price for this: lack of sleep can make you irritable and not easy to live with, in both your personal and work life. You can end up overreacting to things, and this then creates other issues. 'Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you.' spoken to the people of Israel so long ago should comfort us in our times of trial, for God's promises have not changed. God waits for us to return to him when we stray, and he will be ready to take us in. He will continually shower us with His favor and take opportunities to be gracious to us. He will listen to our prayers. The effect of this gives extraordinary comfort and joy to God's people as we await his return.
Please pray with me the prayer for today: Heavenly Father, creator, and sustainer of all things, seen and unseen; you have promised to be gracious to us and show compassion. Please help me in my unbelief to believe your words. In Jesus' holy name, I pray. Amen.
