Today's devotion for today is based on Hebrews 9:27,28, "Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him." The day that you die is your own personal judgment day. Your eternal destiny is determined the moment you die. Whoever dies with faith in Christ is given eternal life, that is, eternal life with God, and whoever dies in unbelief is condemned to eternal death, that is, life without God. When Jesus returns on the Last Day, all the dead, those who believe, and those who do not, will rise from the dead. At this time, the soul that had left the body at their death will be reunited with the body as God created them to be united. While the verdict given at one's death will not change, the body and soul now united will be judged. Those people who did not believe will spend eternity banished from God's presence, knowing they have rejected their Savior. At the same time, those who believe in Jesus as their Savior will spend eternity in the presence of God. Please pray with me, Jesus Christ, thank you for giving me faith, please do whatever you need to do to keep me in faith. Please help me keep my eyes on you so my faith does not grow weak but grows strong. Amen.
