Today’s devotion is based on Matthew 24:35, where we hear Jesus’ words, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My Words will not pass away." Shortly before his death, Vladimir Lenin, the leader of the Soviet Union, said, "I expect to live long enough to attend the funeral of all religions." History shows that it did not happen. The Bible is still being attacked by those who say it is just a book of how people that lived in the past saw the world and God and does not apply to us today. Don't you believe it! The great truths of the Bible apply to us, just as much as it applied to those who lived before us, for sin still exists and we are still in need of a Savior. The Bible gives us purpose and direction. It tells us we are fashioned by God Himself and that He loves us and is interested in our lives. It tells us that we would be forever lost if it were not for our Savior, God's own Son, who gave Himself up to the cross for our sins. Now, for Jesus' sake, we are saved by God's grace. The Bible, in all its glorious revelation, was written for you and me to make us wise unto salvation through faith, which is in Christ Jesus alone. Please pray with me the prayer for today: Heavenly Father, You have spoken to us through Your Word, the blessed Scriptures that our vital to achieving, not just a good life here on earth, but eternal life with God. Turn us back to you when we turn our back on Your Word so that we will stay in the Christian faith. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
