Today’s devotion for today is based on Luke 7:7, “But say the word and my servant will be healed.” Those words were from a Roman soldier, a centurion. He recognizes the authority and power that Jesus has. He believes that Jesus has the ability to heal sickness, perhaps even the power over life and death. And this power does not need any particular act; it only requires the word of Jesus. As we consider our faith in Christ, we should acknowledge, in humility, that it is created and sustained by God for our healing. God can heal what might be thought of as unhealable if it is in his holy will. I wonder how much we suffer because we don’t have a believing faith that God can heal. Please pray with me the prayer for today: Heavenly Father, creator, and sustainer of all things, seen and unseen, Lord, create in us such faith as that centurion had, that we may believe that your word has a saving and healing power in our lives. In Jesus’ blessed name, I pray. Amen.
