Today’s devotion is based on Exodus 17:12, “Aaron and Hur held [Moses’] hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset.” Moses was a leader who grew tired. He needed help, and so two of his men stepped up and helped so that the Israelites could win the battle. Within our families, churches, and communities, we can support each other, and go with the natural ebb and flow of energy, stress levels, and emotional capacity. Pray for the opportunity to hold up someone else’s arms to support them in their responsibilities, especially those in front lines of the pandemic. Please pray with me the prayer for today: Heavenly Father, creator, and sustainer of all things, seen and unseen, thank you for this example that shows us that during a battle, leaders grow tired. We ask you to show us how we can hold up their arms when they grow tired. Rest is hard to find, and we know that you are here also, our Rock, holding us all up while we wait for the end of this battle. In Jesus’ name, Amen
