Today’s devotion is based on John 1:15-17 “(John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, "This is the one I spoke about when I said, 'He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.' Out of his fullness, we have all received grace in place of grace already given. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” John wanted to make a point about God’s Laws. God’s Laws, as they are given through Moses, are laws that if followed would lead a person to live a righteous and good life, but could not lead us to be declared righteous before God. Jesus Christ, on the other hand, has enabled us to be declared righteous before God. The Law no longer condemns but encourages us to live righteous and good lives knowing that Jesus Christ has given us what God’s Law could not. Please pray with me the prayer for today. Heavenly Father, creator, and sustainer of all things thank you for sending your Son to live his life perfectly according to the Law. Thank you that even though he lived a perfect life his sacrifice on the cross made us righteous before You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
