Today’s devotion is based on Psalm 91:4, “He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings.” I love this verse. Those who have raised chickens have probably witnessed what the writer is talking about in this Psalm. At the first sign of danger, the mother hen calls them, and they come. They know their source of protection and provision. That is how the psalmist describes the Lord covering you and me. He invites you to stick in close, feel his warmth, listen for his heartbeat, and hear his words. He loves you. He invites you to trust him, to grow in knowing deep closeness with him at such a time as this. Please pray with me the prayer for today: Heavenly Father, creator, and sustainer of all things, seen and unseen, thank you for caring for us as you do. In times of trouble, help us to remember that you are there offering consolation and protection. I pray this in the name of the Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen
