8-9-19
Today’s devotion is based on John 14:5,6. “Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?" Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” There are various ways of walking down a path. First, there is the physically walking down a road or footpath. This type of walking can be straight, crooked, uphill, or downhill. This walking leads to a destination. It can sometimes lead to disaster The second type of walking down a path is living one’s life in a good and moral way before the world. This walking hopefully leads possessions and respect from others. The third type of walking down a path is, and this is the one Jesus is talking about, is getting from this life to the next. This journey requires something the others do not, faith. Faith in God’s promises is how you walk that path. Please pray with me the prayer for today. Heavenly Father, creator, and sustainer of all things, seen and unseen, thank you for your words of promise for you are the only way, the truth, and the life. Lord, help me to return to the correct path when I wander off of your path. All glory and honor are given to you. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
