Jesus plants the seed. You bear the fruit.
Today’s devotion is based on Romans 12:14-17. “Share with the Lord's people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone.”
Gardening has one simple rule. If you want to grow a particular plant, then you have to plant the seed of that plant. The same rule applies to our lives. God plants Jesus in the heart of every believer. As he plants Jesus in your heart, he knows certain qualities (fruits) will be seen in your life.
Let us pray together: Dear Heavenly Father, creator and sustainer of all things, seen and unseen, we ask that you plant the seed of Jesus Christ in our hearts and help us to bear the fruits of the Holy Spirit in our lives. May we be filled with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Help us to live out the teachings of Romans 12:14-17 and be a blessing to those around us. We pray this in Jesus' name, Amen.
