11-16-23
Today’s devotion is based on 1 Thessalonians 5:1-5,9,10, “Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly . . . But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. You are all children of the light and children of the day. . . For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.” What if you knew the biggest event of your life was coming, but you didn’t know exactly when it would be? You never received a “Save the Date.” In a way, that is our lives as we wait for the Last Day to come. God has told us that the biggest day of our life is coming, but we don’t know when it will be. This has caused all kinds of people to become frustrated with God. Don’t be frustrated or worried. Let God’s peace rest on your hearts because you know your sins are forgiven. Even though the Last Day will come like a thief in the night, the surprise will not upset you because you are children of the light! Please pray with me: Lord, help me to give my “Amen” to your calendar, and patiently wait for your Son’s appearance. Amen.
