Today’s devotion is based on 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy; it does not boast; it is not proud. It does not dishonor others; it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” Some time ago, I put my name in place of “love” and “it” as I read the text. When I got to the word “always,” it hit me that is not what I always am. I don’t always protect, trust, hope, or persevere. Regardless of how much I try, there are times when my selfishness overcomes my love. While I will try to be better at showing the love of God in my life, I give thanks for the love of Jesus and his forgiveness. He is my strength. Please pray with me; thank you, Lord Jesus, for your kindness and love toward me. Please help me to show your love and kindness to those I may come in contact with today. In your blessed name, I pray. Amen.
