Today’s devotion for today is based on Matthew 5:43-45, where we hear Jesus say, “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven." No-one else loves us as Jesus loves us – unconditionally, graciously, constantly. He asks us, actually, tells us to do the same; to love unconditionally. Loving my enemies is not an easy task, but one that Jesus expects to do. Because we are God’s children, we can do it, let’s love our enemies, as hard as it may be, just as Christ loves us. Please prays the prayer for today with me: Heavenly Father, creator, and sustainer of all things, seen and unseen, you know how hard it is sometimes to love my own family and friends. Yet you tell me also to love my enemies. Please help me to remember that you have made me in your image when you gave me the Holy Spirit so that I can live according to who I truly am, your child. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen
