11/15/21
As we near the end of the Christian year, approaching Advent, today's devotion for today is based on Isaiah 65:17 "Look, I will make new heavens and a new earth." This verse, repeated in Revelation 21, is one of my favorites in the Bible, for it gives me hope in a world that many times seems out of control. In God's Word, it and many others point to a time of perfect bliss, joy beyond imagination, and blessings to all people. Something to look forward to in troubled times. We can look forward to perfect harmony: love, joy, and peace beyond measure. But we can also live with the presence of Jesus in us today. If you can go for a walk today with your eyes focused on Jesus and his creation. See your neighbors and nature through Jesus' eyes as you experience new life today. Would you please pray with me? We thank you, God, for the wonderful promises you provide for us. But even more, we thank you for your Son, Jesus Christ, coming into our world and making all things new. Please help us to live and celebrate this newness in our lives. Amen.
