Paul, a steward of the Gospel Today's daily devotion is based on 1 Corinthians 4:12-13," When reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure; when slandered, we entreat." Paul, a steward of the Gospel, is a loyal steward. He knows that loyalty is his first duty. He doesn't inquire about what other people say about him. He knows who will be the final judge in his life and intends to remain faithful to God. Paul, who would be the first to admit that he is a sinner, knows his need for forgiveness. That is what he preaches. Paul knows, as well as we should know, that the kingdom of God is not just some ideology or outlook on life. It is not just knowledge or conviction that things behave in a certain way. It is a force because God intervenes and creates. God came into our world and lives. Because of God's actions on our behalf, we are allowed to be children of God for Christ's sake. Our lives are thus forever changed by God. As Christians, we live in the kingdom of forgiveness instead of the kingdom of the law. That is life-giving. Please pray with me; Dear Lord Jesus, you alone gave life and forgiveness to the world. May I never be afraid of suffering that leads to peace and reconciliation. May I be joyous and thankful even when others ridicule me for my faith in You. Amen
