Since today is Pentecost, I thought it would be good to write about the work of the Holy Spirit in a Christians life. The text I am looking at today is John 13:26 where Jesus’ words are recorded, “But the helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” The people of God live and move and has their being through the gracious inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Without God’s Spirit, no one could come to Christ or believe in him. The fifty-day celebration of Easter ends with this joyous festival Pentecost. The risen ascended Savior has sent the Holy Spirit to be our Sanctifier entering our hearts at our baptism, nurturing us through his Word and enabling us to understand the Gospel and to live our life that honors God and serves our neighbors. Please pray with me the prayer for today. Heavenly Father, creator, and sustainer of all things, seen and unseen, on this eve of Pentecost, on this day you taught the hearts of your faithful people by sending them the light of your Holy Spirit. Grant us in our time by the same Holy Spirit to have a right understanding so we too can rejoice in your saving work. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
