Pentecost Eve Since tomorrow is Pentecost Sunday, today’s devotion is based on Galatians 6:7,8, “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.” According to these two verses, there are two different seeds to sow. This corresponds to two fundamental outlooks on life. The first is to sow in the fields of the flesh. This can be done in openly godless ways, such as getting as much as you can of the fleshly desires. There is another sowing in the fields of the flesh which appears much more respectable and even Christian, but just as wrong. That is done as people try to be more diligent, sacrifice more, and place themselves in a higher state than others. Both of these have removed Christ from the picture. The other way is to sow in the Spirit’s field. This means living in the Spirit as we are told in 1 Corinthians 12:7, “To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.” God’s Word lists those out if you want to learn more about them. Please pray with me: Holy Spirit come with all your power and help tomorrow to those who proclaim your glory and those who are listening. Come to me today so that I can better understand your gifts. I ask this for the sake of Jesus. Amen.
