4-27-21
Today's devotion is based on John 14:22-24: "Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, "Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?" Jesus answered him, "If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father's who sent me." Jesus said a condition had to be met before he and the Father could reveal themselves to a person; a person must love him and keep his word. Keeping his word is not the same as keeping his Commandments. We must listen to it, think about it, and let it sink into the essence of our very being, for it is a power that breaks down the barrier between unbelief and belief. It gives us life, gives new birth, heals our wounds, and carries us through all difficulties. Please join me in praying the prayer for today: You promised the disciples you would not leave them alone. You kept that promise by revealing yourself to them. They, in turn, have, through their writings, reveal your presence to me. Please help me to live my life in such a way that everything I do gives you glory, for you are indeed my Savior. In your holy name, I pray. Amen.
