Today's devotion for today is based on Amos 5:6, "Seek the LORD and live, lest he breaks out like fire in the house of Joseph, and it devours, with none to quench it for Bethel." In the Old Testament book of Amos, God's people found themselves in a bad place concerning their relationship with God. The Lord, however, loved his people. That love moved him to speak to them in clarity that was both piercing and beautiful. "Seek the LORD and live," he said. How about you? Do you feel as though you are trapped in a bad place, physically and spiritually, concerning your relationship with God? You know you are not where you are supposed to be, but all is not lost. Jesus has come to your rescue. On your behalf, he has lived a sinless life. On your behalf, he has washed you clean at the cross. Now, through his Word, he proclaims to you his gospel invitation. Listen to God's call, Seek the Lord and live. Please pray with me: Heavenly Father, gracious God, creator and sustainer of all, seen and unseen; You know me better than I know myself. Please help me listen to your call when I am wandering away from you. Thank you for your gift of forgiveness. In Jesus' holy name, I pray. Amen.
