Setting our foolishness aside Today’s Bible study is based on Moses’ final words to the people of Israel: Deuteronomy 30:17-20 – “I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, loving the LORD your God, obeying His voice and holding fast to Him, for He is your life and length of days, that you may dwell in the land that the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them." Moses knew that though they were a chosen people, they were a stubborn people. Their wicked idolatry, foolish disregard for God's Word, and moral weakness were the themes for many "chats" he's had to have with them. Is there any difference with us today? How often does the world trip us up, sending us headlong into some sin we've fallen into way too many times? But God is ever patient, ever willing to give His people the good life, a life that draws its strength and sustenance from following Him. And for us, Jesus has come. He has walked among us, giving us His life, taking our sins to the cross. And then He sealed the deal. He rose from the dead three days later, victorious over Satan and the grave. Please pray with me the prayer for today: Heavenly Father, by Your grace we are given life. Help us to stay on the path you have laid out before us. Although it is narrow and bumpy, it is the only path to our salvation. We pray in Jesus’ name, name. Amen.
