Sin will not go unpunished. Today's devotion is based on Exodus 34:6-7: "The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, . . . forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished." Today's devotion is a reminder of God's justice and love. Many people have a distorted view of God, but Exodus 34:6-7 tells us who God really is. He is compassionate, gracious, and forgiving, but he also hates sin and cannot ignore it. Just as a judge must punish a crime, God must punish sin. But the good news is that God also provided a way for us to be forgiven and reconciled to him through Jesus Christ. Jesus, the Son of God, took the punishment for our sins on the cross so that we can be forgiven and have eternal life. This is an incredible act of love and grace that we should never take for granted. As we reflect on God's justice and love, let us also pray for the strength to resist sin and live a life that honors and glorifies him. Amen.
