Spiritual gifts
 
Today’s devotion is based on 1 Corinthians 12:7, “To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.”
This verse talks about the Spirit working in and through those who have received the faith and can testify from their heart that Jesus is Lord and Savior. All who believe in Christ are part of the body of Christ, the Holy Christian Church.
Just as each part of our body has a specific part to play in the body, the same thought applies to the Spiritual body of Christ, particularly in the local congregation. The Holy Spirit gives the members of the congregation the gifts needed for the congregation to function as God intends.
If a local congregation is having difficulty finding members to do God’s work in the congregation, each member needs to see if they are refusing to use the gift the Holy Spirit has given them.
Please pray with me: Holy Spirit, show me the gift you have given me. Please help me to recognize it and rejoice in the gift as I use it for the good of the congregation in service to you. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
