He has risen! He has risen indeed. Alleluia!
Today’s daily devotion is based on Isaiah 41:44, “Who has performed and done this, calling the generations from the beginning? I am the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he.” The people of Israel are wondering how in the world they ended up in exile. Who did this? How did this happen? Who made this mess? They were fearful, without hope, separated from their beloved homeland. In previous chapters, Isaiah reminds the people of their role in the exile; chasing after idols, practices that did not honor God, or their role in faithfulness. Then God switches gears and reminds them who has been with the first of them and who shall be with the last of them as he brings them back to their homes. In our current crisis, as bad as it is for certain parts of our country, those who trust in the Almighty Lord can see God as work. Faithful people are coming together to take care of each other. Each of us, in this time of fear, says, ‘Take courage!’ in whatever you are making of this. In the end, we will say, “Good has come out of this, for that is what God does.” Please pray with me the prayer for today: Heavenly Father creator of all things, seen and seen, remind us when we become fearful of your power, your strength, and your eternal love. Help us to look outside of ourselves so that we show your love to others. In Jesus’ blessed name, we pray. Amen.
