Temple of God Today's daily devotion is based on 1 Corinthians 3:16-17, "Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and you are that temple." Paul is not implying that the Corinthians are model Christians. Throughout his letter to the Christians at Corinth, Paul rebukes them for their way of life. Despite this, he still states that they are a temple of God. Paul can say what he did because when a person is baptized, they become a temple of God. But, just like an actual temple of God can be desecrated and used for non-Christian activities, the individual temples of God that Paul is speaking of can be desecrated and used for non-Chrisitan activities. The promise of restoration is always there for Christians because Jesus made us acceptable before God in his death and resurrection. Thanks be to God. Please pray with me; Lord, I know that what had to be done for me to be saved has already been done. Please help me to build my life on that foundation. Help me to trust in what you have already done for me so that I don't try to add anything to what you have done. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
