The cross shows us the power of God
Today's daily devotion is based on I Corinthians:18, "For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."
There is only one Gospel, and it is about Christ, about the cross and redemption through faith in the crucified and risen Lord. This is foolishness to those who do not believe. The reason being is that they have made God into their preconceived ideas of God.
Those who believe understand God through God's words, as they are written down for us in the Bible. In God's Word, especially in the Gospel, they encounter God in such a way that there is no doubt who God is and his impact on their lives.
Please pray with me; It is good to thank the Lord and sing praises to your name, O Most High. It is good to declare your steadfast love in the morning and your faithfulness by night, for you, Lord, have given me peace amid heartbreak and turmoil. Thank you for shining your light of forgiveness and love into the darkness of my sinful heart. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
