Today's devotion for today is based on Psalm 24:7-10, "Lift up your heads, O you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is he, this King of glory? The LORD Almighty—he is the King of glory." Jesus is your conquering King, your defender. He did not come into this world as you would expect a king to come in with fanfare, but humbly and lowly, born in a manger. The world hardly noticed his arrival. But he came as our glorious King to defeat our greatest enemy, sin. What's more, is that your conquering hero is coming, and he wants to dwell with you forever. Are you ready for his arrival? According to the calendar, there are only 19 days left before Christmas. You know full well all the pressure and stress of getting ready. Presents and decorations and good food are all wonderful blessings, but let's not forget to lift up our heads and hearts to see Jesus the most precious gift of God! He is our King of Glory! Please pray with me the prayer for today: Heavenly Father, gracious God, creator and sustainer of all things, seen and unseen, O King of Glory, help me to prepare my heart to welcome you each day. Keep me from the distractions of this season so that I can welcome you as my Savior and King. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen
