Today’s devotion is based on Psalm 27:3-4, “Though an army encamps against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arises against me, yet I will be confident. One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in His temple.” King David, the writer of this Psalm, has one desire, broken down into three parts. First that he may be sheltered in the temple, second that he sees the glory of God, and thirdly that he learns more about God, his Savior. Like King David, we too should seek to be in the Lord’s house, sheltered by his presence, and learning from his Word. It is the "one thing" we need, for we are told in Matthew 6:33, "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." Please pray with me the prayer for today: Lord, we look forward to the day when we will dwell in Your presence forever. Until then, lead us by Your Spirit to worship in Your house and learn from Your holy Word so that our faith will be strengthened. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
