He has Risen! Alleluia!
Today's devotion is based on John 10:7 and 9: "Jesus said again, "Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. . .I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved."
When Jesus was born, his mother placed him in a manger where animals were fed. His life followed the pattern of his ancestor, King David. Now he lives in the glory of heaven, and he invites me to join him there.
He explains how I can get to heaven. Thinking of sheep, he calls himself the gate. Jesus means to say that believing in him is the only way to get to heaven, to dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
I have approached buildings and sometimes churches where it is difficult to identify the actual entrance, which is frustrating. Thankfully, that's not the case when it comes to entering heaven. Jesus identifies himself as the only entrance to a relationship with God and an eternity in heaven.
Please pray with me: Lord Jesus, guide me safely to a close relationship with you and an eternal home in heaven. Amen.
