Today’s devotion is based on Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” Just like we should avoid junk food, as tasty as it is, we should not feed our minds junk food either. In the current climate, there’s always fresh concerns about the outbreak and, even without thinking about it, we can consume every morsel that comes our way. Today’s Bible verse urges us to let pure and lovely thoughts captivate our thinking. And what could be more worthy of praise than Jesus? For when we do this, ‘the peace of God, which surpasses all human understanding, will keep our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.’ Please pray with me the prayer for today: Heavenly Father, creator, and sustainer of all things, seen and unseen, thank you for all that you did for us on that bloody cross. Keep my eyes fixed on your words to us as they are recorded for us in our Bible. Fill me with the peace which surpasses understanding so that in this time of turmoil, I can live in peace, knowing that you are in control of all things. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
