Today's devotion for today is based on Proverbs 3:27, "Whenever you are able, do good to people who need help." Helping people in need was core to God's people of old. Being a bystander was not an option! It was what the early church became known for in the ancient world. It's why God's people invented the first hospitals. It's why we started the first orphanages. It's why we started social service programs long before the government did. It's why some of our churches minister to refugees or the elderly. Caring is what we Christians do! It's in the very fiber of our spiritual being; God cares for us, so we care for others. Please pray with me: God, you are the God of the Fatherless, the God of the infirmed, and the homeless. Lord, bless all those who care for others in need. Inspire us to reach out to all who need a hand so that others see your love through our caring. In Jesus' holy name, I pray. Amen.
