Today’s devotion is based on Proverbs 3:5, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight.”
There are several verses in God’s Word that tell us why we should trust in the Lord. In the book of Hebrews we are told, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you,” and in Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you’ …’ plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.
God’s promises cannot be broken. We should trust in him, but too often during times of trial, hurt, pain, struggling with fear, or uncertainty about the future, we start to doubt, to believe we must take care of ourselves.
If we think we are going to make it through all the valleys of life on our own power, then we will be sadly disappointed. We need to do as God tells us in 1 Peter 5:7, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” Only then will you find true help and peace.
Please pray with me the prayer for today: Heavenly Father, creator, and sustainer of all things, seen and unseen, you are our true and certain hop when our energy to cope runs out. Turn us to you so that we can be refreshed and find rest. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
