Which sibling are you? Today's devotion is based on Matthew 21:28-31 [Jesus said] "There was a man who had two sons. He went to the first and said, 'Son, go and work today in the vineyard.' "'I will not,' he answered, but later he changed his mind and went. "Then the father went to the other son and said the same thing. He answered, 'I will, sir,' but he did not go. "Which of the two did what his father wanted?" Which of them did what his father wanted? The obvious answer is the first son because he eventually did what his father asked. The other son gave the right answer but did not do what he promised. So, which sibling are you? Are you like the first son, who says no to God at first but later changes his mind and obeys? Or are you like the second son, who says yes to God but never obeys? The truth is, we are all like both sons at different times in our lives. We all say no to God and fall short of His perfect standard. But the good news is that God loves us anyway. He sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for our sins. When we put our faith in Jesus, we are forgiven and made righteous in His sight. So, if you are struggling to obey God, don't despair. Just ask for His forgiveness and help. He will give you the strength to do what He is calling you to do. Please join me in prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for Your perfect obedience to God the Father. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. Help me to be obedient to Your directions in my life so I give you glory. In Your name, I pray. Amen.
